  • Condition: Very Good-Excellent overall antique cond: For sale is this very nice, well-pres, late 19th c American antique primitive, amber glass w/tin lid, wire handle & lathe-turned, blk enml pntd wooden hand grasp, tobacco humidor, prod by the Globe Tobacco Co., Detroit, MI, c. 1882. It was recently discvr'd here in a southern NH estate along the MA border & is without any cracks, noticeable glass loss. The amber glass has nat occurring glass stretch marks in its glass sidewalls, a sign of early, pre-20th c glass prod. Its form is meant to resemble a staved barrel cask for storing any number of things in. The screw on tin lid is orig to the glass body & is intact, without dings, dents, loss or deformities & only has some very slight, minimal signs of oxidation on its tin surfaces. The front glass sidewall of the humidor is clearly embossed w/the raised typography 'Globe Tobacco Company, Detroit, Michigan, Pat. Oct. 10, 1882.' In glorious, well-pres overall antique cond. Very handsome. Fine.
